Brewery Products
Over the past several years, Dairy Engineering has been actively involved in the micro-brewery boom in Colorado. We've watched many of our customers go from brewing their first batches in SS tubs to constructing their own full scale facilities. While we have steered away from attempting to provide full "package" brewery systems, we have learned which of our products and services are best suited to the brewery environment. We've also learned "what works" and "what doesn't". This page describes some of the equipment and services we have found to be of use to the micro-brewing industry. The following page provides information on some of those products. Below you'll see our solution to the tough task of pumping hot wort as well as many other solutions we've found. The SPI SP series pumps are easily the best value in sanitary pumps on the market today. The all stainless construction alone should be enough to make it attractive, but it has many other features which make it an excellent value. If you're fed up with the pumps that came with your brewing system and are looking for a low cost way to upgrade, give us a call.

We've had very good luck placing this pump in brewery applications where other pumps have failed. This includes pumping hot wort -- an application which has led to high seal failure rates on "standard" brewery pumps. We've had pumps in place for 6 months without a new seal -- or even a new o-ring. Custom Welding and Machining
We offer complete shop services to create custom piping assemblies, adapters, custom machined parts, and other SS assemblies. We are not a fittings manufacturer, but we can combine, weld, and machine fittings from various sources to create custom combinations. Any one of our engineers or shop managers can help you figure out the best way to economically construct custom devices. If custom work beyond our shop capabilities are required, we have long standing relationships with fittings manufacturers who are willing to take on custom work. Let us know how we can help.
Common Brewery Products
Our dealings with microbreweries over the past few years have led us to keep a large stock of equipment and parts commonly used in these facilities. We keep a large stock of high quality, American made butterfly valves on the shelf and also stock seats for many of the import models. Our fabrication shop can make up an incredible variety of custom adapters and fittings to meet all your special needs.
Brewery Hose
Working with local brewers and hose providers, we have discovered which common hose manufacturers have the best product for brewery use. We have found that some hose labeled as "Brewer's Hose" doesn't perform adequately with hot wort and other brewery applications. We can supply you with the right hose at very reasonable prices.
SPI offers the widest selection of small control valve sizes of any major sanitary manufacturer. The Micro-Flow series has 5 different plug sizes for various flow rates with Cv values ranging from 1.0 to 6.5. Different plug styles available on larger sizes allow the flow characteristics of the valve to be tailored to your process. Ask for the Sanitary Modulating Valve brochure which contains all the engineering data required to properly choose the correct valve for your application.
