Bio-Pharmiceutical Products

While it may take a little getting used to, "Dairy" Engineering offers many products tailored specifically to the pharmaceutical and bio-tech industries. Over 75% of our customers are now outside the dairy industry, including many in bio-pharm. Remember, the concepts of "CIP" and "sanitary" started in dairies & food plants ... the pharmaceutical market took a good idea and ran with it. Many of our manufacturers have products specially modified for the rigid specifications required by the burgeoning bio-tech field.

G&H Products

G&H manufactures a complete line of processing equipment especially tailored for the Bio-Pharmaceutical market.

Over the past few years, G&H has pioneered more new designs and technology than any other sanitary manufacturer. We will be happy to send any information you need in order to allow you to keep pace.

Rath Electropolished Stainless Steel Tubing

Electropolishing is used to create a passive surface on the inner surface of SS tubing. This process ensures the best possible environment for processing of ultra-pure liquids. Rath Manufacturing takes extreme care during production, going so far as to inspect, clean, and package all tubing in a Clean Room environment. Rath has worked very hard to perfect the manufacturing process for bio-tech tubing and the advances made have also carried over to their standard "sanitary" product as well. Mechanical polishing has been improved to the point where 20 Ra can be achieved without electropolishing. Also, standard tubing can be ordered with the ends prepared specifically for orbital machine-welding -- all at no additional charge.

Anderson Instruments is the only major instrument manufacturer making products solely for the sanitary and bio-pharmaceutical markets. These aren't oil field instruments with a Tri-clamp slapped on the end; these are products specifically designed with purity and sanitation in mind. The new CPM fitting finally solves the problem of deadlegs in pressure measurement. All stainless steel construction is a standard for Anderson, not just an afterthought. Anderson's pressure gauges are built to withstand autoclave cycles and are available to fit nearly any sanitary fitting.

APV Gaulin Homogenizers

APV Gaulin has long been the leader in homogenizing science, having invented the homogenizer back in 1900. During the 80's and 90's, Gaulin has made strong advances in the use of high pressure materials for the bio-pharmaceutical field. Homogenizing pressures of 15,000 psi and beyond are commonly handled by Gaulin machines. Their research into cell rupturing and emulsion processing is impressive and "white papers" on the subjects are available.

Dairy Engineering has what is possibly the largest stock of Gaulin parts in the country outside the factory. This is partly due to our standing offer to stock any part regularly used by our customers -- even those deemed as "low usage" by the factory. If you use it, we'll stock it, saving you inventory costs and reducing the ever-dreaded "downtime".

The Fristam WFI pump is a modification of the proved FP series of centrifugal pumps. The seal area is flushed with product from both sides, ensuring that air cannot leak into the product and maintaining product integrity. The 45 degree outlet position and casing drain eliminate air pocketing and allow complete draining of the pump. Various internal finish specifications are available.

SPI offers the widest selection of small control valve sizes of any major sanitary manufacturer. The Micro-Flow series has 5 different plug sizes for various flowrates with Cv values ranging from 1.0 to 6.5. Different plug styles available on larger sizes allow the flow characteristics of the valve to be tailored to your process. Ask for the Sanitary Modulating Valve brochure which contains all the engineering data required to properly choose the correct valve for your application.

Custom Welding and Machining

We offer complete shop services to create custom piping assemblies, adapters, custom machined parts, and other SS assemblies. We are not a fittings manufacturer, but we can combine, weld, and machine fittings from various sources to create custom combinations. Any one of our engineers or shop managers can help you figure out the best way to economically construct custom devices. If custom work beyond our shop capabilities are required, we have long standing relationships with fittings manufacturers who are willing to take on custom work. Let us know how we can help.
